Why I Fly - Snowboarding

360 Virtual Reality Film

An immersive Virtual Reality film celebrating the passion two snowboarders have for their sport. Taking the viewer closer to the sports action.

The viewers are immersed with exhilaration, skill and thrill of riding through the snow park so that they feel like they are with the snowboarders.

To capture unique filming perspectives, we developed a variety of bespoke extreme sport filming techniques using Virtual Reality 360 degree cameras and customised racing drones.

We were able to capture this intimacy by tracking camera movement with the snowboarders. This allowed us to view the world from their perspective in new and uniques ways, as they and flip and spin upside-down in the air.

As well as an amazing camera team, the project was made possible by the passion of the snowboarders to embrace experimentation and choreograph themselves with the camera setups.

As a keen snowboarder, combining one of my favourite sports and immersive technology at the same time was a dream. How much fun can you have at work!

Combining creativity and innovations in immersive technology, we are constantly experimenting and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

This is part of an ongoing series of extreme sports Virtual Reality filming projects.
